Update Fire Chief Fred Burrows says the fire department received several calls about the fire at around 3:40 p.m. Friday. 

Burrows says the fire began at the back of the house in a sun room but then spread to the roof.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined but it is now out.

He says it appears that there is at least $100,000 in damage.  One person was working at a shed on the property when the fire broke out.


A fire has broken out at a home at 89A Ave. and 84 A St. in Fort St. John.

The fire appears to have started at the back portion of the home, which is located near Duncan Cran Elementary.

Firefighters are currently on scene and the fire is under control

Fort St. John RCMP has blocked off 89 A Ave. to traffic.


Residents are being urged to stay away from the area to allow fire trucks to get through.
