The canon was fired from one of the sponsors of the parade, the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce. It hit a transformer at the offices of Peace FM causing the power to go out in the community for over an hour. All power, Internet services, water and sewer pumps and all services halted from the streamer cannon.
Despite the power outage, the parade had more participants than ever before. The parade celebrated the community's survival from the flood and was a revitalizing experience for all residents.
The explosion at the transformer will be featured on You Tube within 24 hours. Adam Ferguson, our camera operator, was only a few meters from the explosion and is uninjured. Very luckily, the horses in the parade were held firmly by the riders and wagon operators. "I had a tight grip on the team," Ed Bodo said. Ed Bodo and Ann Beattie were behind the Chamber float and had teams of show horses with elders and friends on the wagons.
