Wednesday evening, a plain clothes officer spotted a male who was wanted on outstanding warrants in the downtown core.  The male ran into several businesses trying to avoid apprehension, but the RCMP tracked down the male and advised him he was under arrested.  Initially the male cooperated, then suddenly fled on foot, running into traffic near the Mile 0 Post.  The officer was able to catch the male again with the help of an off duty officer from Chetwynd.

A search of the male revealed quantities of cocaine, ecstasy, methamphetamine, cash and an active cell phone.  The male is a well know member of the local drug trade.

The 33 year-old male is currently charged with multiple offences including breach of probation, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.  The male will also face charges after a separate event earlier this month.

The male’s name is not being released until his first court appearance and he currently remains in police custody.

The RCMP would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this matter.
