Rainfall warning continues for the B.C. Peace

It goes to areas south of Dawson Creek, including the communities of Gundy, Tupper, Tomslake, One Island Lake, and Kelly Lake.

The regional district responded Thursday to Environment Canada information that puts the South Peace rainfall amounts by Saturday afternoon between 80 to 115 millimeters.


However, the forecasts issued at 5 a.m. Friday, for Dawson Creek and Chetwynd,  put the estimated totals for today and tomorrow at those weather stations, between 70 and 90 millimeters, with showers on Sunday.

The Fort St. John station estimate, is 45 to 60 millimeters today, and then showers on both Saturday and Sunday.

The rainfall warning also extends into the Alberta Peace withe Grande Prairie forecast carrying a rainfall estimate for today and tomorrow  from 65 to 80 millilmeters.

We understand the RCMP in Slave Lake has already closed Highway Two at two different locations near that community, due to flooding.
