School zone speed signs installed in Dawson Creek

Two new pieces of equipment have been installed to help prevent residents of Dawson Creek from speeding.

Recently, the city of Dawson Creek installed two new solar powered radar systems, which record and display the speed of oncoming traffic.

The two new radars have been installed at both ends of 17th St, monitoring both entrances into the city from rural areas. Both are located within school zones, where speeding is a main concern for safety.

Speeding in school zones is a major safety issue, as the speed limit is 30 km/h, but often drivers will exceed that limit, driving at 50-60 km/h.

Dawson Creek currently only owns two of these radar systems, but is looking to purchase more in the near future.
