A&W to host annual MS fundraiser

An annual multiple sclerosis fundraiser is approaching and it should make for one tasty event.

Taking place on Thursday, Aug. 25, A&W will be celebrating its third annual Cruisin’ for a Cause Day, to benefit and raise awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

As part of the country wide fundraiser, one dollar from every Teen Burger sold will be donated to help end MS.

Paul Hollands, President and CEO of A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. says “in just two years our customers, employees and franchisees have raised more than one million dollars in support of the efforts to end MS. We are thrilled by the success and want to encourage everyone to help us build on this great achievement by supporting Cruisin’ for a Cause Day.”

Over 730 A&W restaurants across the country will be hosting the event, which will also include classic car gatherings, retro music, car hop services and a root beer chugging contest.

Yves Savoie, the President and CEO for the MS Society of Canada says the event “plays an important role in helping us fund ongoing research into the cause, treatment and cure of MS and provide services to Canadians touched by the disease.”

Canadians have one of the highest rates of MS in the world, estimating that one in two Canadians know someone with MS and between 50,000-75,000 Canadians have the disease.
