Bike club experiences record breaking ride

 

The Blizzard Bike Club witnessed a record breaking performance over the weekend.

On Sunday, the bike club held its 8 km S&S Turbines Bear Flats Hill Climb race and a new record was set by Hudson’s Hope resident Patrick Paquette.

Paquette completed the race with a record time of 20 minutes and 7 seconds, beating the previous record of 20:30 by 23 seconds. Second place went to the previous record holder Colter Young, who finished at 22:21. Finishing third in the event was Dirk Finkensiep with a time of 25:22.

It will be a busy upcoming week for the Blizzard Bike Club, as three events are scheduled to take place.

The club’s next event, the Cactus Trails Mountain Bike Race, will be taking place Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, the club will hold another Baldonnel Time Trial, which will also begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 14 will be a rare evening road race, starting from the Cecil Lake gravel pit at 7 p.m.
