Members of the Blizzard Bike Club left their mark at the Penticton Ironman triathlon.
On Sunday, August 28, a group of Fort St. John residents traveled to Penticton to take place in the 2011 Subaru Ironman Canada Triathlon, a 17 hour race involving a 3.8 kilometre swim, a 180 km bike ride and a 42.2 km run.
Barb Polehoykie represented the Blizzard Bike Club quite well in the triathlon, finishing in 8th place in her age class, with an impressive time of 12 hours, 15 minutes and 9 seconds.
However, Polehoykie wasn’t the only impressive bike club member. Darrin Guliov completed the event in 12:27:40, Sandy McDonald finished at 12:43:26, Rob Churchill at 13:19:04, Floyd Polehoykie at 15:47:38 and Bob Andrews with a time of 15:52:28.
Sandy McDonald was also the group’s fastest swimmer, completing the water stage of the triathlon in a time of 1:07:51. Darren Guliov had the fastest stint on the bike, completing it at 6:02:04 and Barb Polehoykie had the fastest run time, at 4:38:37.
