Dinner/Dance fundraiser to help support local family

An unfortunate turn of events has prompted a local couple to hold a dinner and dance fundraiser.

Cory and Teriney Bennett, a married couple of four years, are due to have their first baby this coming September. Unfortunately, news was also given in March that Cory had been diagnosed with brain cancer.

A tumour was removed in April and Cory is currently undergoing both radiation and chemotherapy treatments in Kelowna until late August.

Upon the arrival of the couple’s first child, Cory will resume treatment in Fort St. John, and unfortunately, due to the circumstances, neither parent will be able to work.

These circumstances have resulted in the couple and their friends organizing a potluck / Dinner and Dance Fundraiser, which will be taking place at the Montney Hall on August 27.

The potluck supper will begin at 6 p.m. with the dance following at 8 p.m. and Off The Wall DJ has donated his services for the evening. The evening will also include a silent auction.

The event is a family function, therefore minor are permitted to attend.

Tickets are available for the event and cost is by donation. Donations are being accepted for both the silent auction and the potluck. For information on how to obtain tickets, or to donate items for either the silent auction or potluck, please contact either Tawnie at 250-261-2711 or Britany at 250-263-7659.

Camping is also welcomed for anyone who wishes to stay out at the Hall for the evening. Campers and tents are both welcomed and there is still plenty or available space.
