Ft. Nelson natural flora gets a boost

Fort Nelson is getting a boost today when it comes to fighting intruding flora.

Earlier this morning, local MLA Pat Pimm announced that the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality will be receiving $30,000 dollars from the BC government that will go to help stop the expansion of high risk invasive plant species.

The money will be used as a preventative measure against damaging fauna, and will go into projects that will help preserve native plants, which has lasting benefits to the community.

While Fort Nelson is not at particular risk for any one type of invasive vegetation, the community can still use the money to help prevent the spread of such plants as knapweed and hound’s tongue.
