Northern Lights College announces new VP

Dr. Peter Nunoda assumed Vice Presidential duties today and comes to the college from Manitoba, where he served as the Dean of Health Sciences at the University College of the North.

Northern Lights College President Laurie Rancourt made the announcement earlier today, citing that Dr. Nunoda’s experience will be an asset to the NLC community.

“In his previous role in Manitoba, Peter gained insightful experience working in a multi-campus and geographically widespread college environment that rests within 12 First Nation and rural communities,” Rancourt said. “Peter also has a strong track record of creating lasting relationships with government and industry. He is committed to the communities he serves and has extensive experience working with Aboriginal communities.”

Dr. Nunoda received his PhD in History from the Manitoba in 1991, and has since taught in 3 different universities around the country.

Nunoda’s predecessor, Craig Herbert, will be retiring from his position at the end of this year, but has given control over to Nunoda already. Herbert will now be focusing on program development, review, and quality assurance within the college until his retirement.
