Alex Ferguson has resigned from the Oil and Gas Commission.

Ferguson decided to resign after five years with the Commission, with the last four as  Commissioner and CEO.

In a release from the Oil and Gas Commission, Ferguson said “It has truly been an honour for me to serve as the Commissioner, and a fellow employee of the BC Oil and
Gas Commission.”

The Oil and Gas Commission says Ferguson played an integral role in driving the Commission toward its goal of being the leading oil and gas regulator in Canada, and has guided the Commission in the implementation of the Oil and Gas Activities Act and in regulating increased unconventional gas development in British Columbia.

The OGC release goes on to say Ferguson stated he is moving on for personal reasons.

Paul Jeakins will serve as Acting Commissioner and CEO while the search for a new Commissioner gets underway.
