A group of Fort St. John residents are heading to Penticton to take on an exhausting challenge.

On Aug. 28, Penticton will host the 2011 Subaru Ironman Canada, a triathlon involving a 3.8 kilometre swim, a 180 kilometre bike ride and finishes off with a 42.2 km run.

The race begins at 7 a.m. and participants will have 17 hours to complete all three stages of the race.

Seven people from Fort St. John are taking part in the race. They are Darren Guliov, Brodie Garrison, Bob Andrews, Rob Churchill, Sandra McDonaldand and Floyd and Barbara Polehoykie

Floyd and Barbara Polehoykie are also members of the Iron Team B.C., fundraising for the B.C. chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society. Anyone interested in sponsoring or making a donation, can visit here.
