Results in from Emperor's Challenge

Men, women and children all gathered in Tumbler Ridge over the weekend to take part in the Emperor’s Challenge Half Marathon Mountain Run.

On Saturday, Aug 6, 656 participants -800 were originally registered- took on the 20 km mountain half marathon challenge, which took place at Tumbler Ridge’s Babcock Mountain.

The fasted male participant of the day was Kris Swanson, who participated in the Open Men 19-34 20 km Division. Swanson completed the half marathon with a time of 1:24:52. Scott Goosney of Grande Prairie finished third in this category with a time of 1:41:52.

In the Masters Men 35-49 20 km Division, Fort St. John resident Steve Sadownik finished first with a time of 1:35:23 Chetwynd’s Dale Benke finished third in this category, at 1:52:23.

The fastest time on the women’s side was achieved by Fiona Benson, in the Open Women 19-34 20 km Division. Benson, a resident of the Peace Region, finished the half marathon with a time of 1:41:40.

Moose FM also participated in the 20 km event, with team members Kerry Mann and Adam Reaburn finishing with times of 2:24:59 and 2:34:19 respectively.
