Clean-up has begun at the former Fort Hotel site.

The City had awarded the Asbestos Abatement Project to NAPP Enterprises Ltd. to remediate the land earlier this summer.

The site is expected to be completely remediated by the fall.

The City took over the property last fall after its previous owner failed to pay three years worth of taxes. The property is contaminated with asbestos, which was commonly used in building construction up until the early 1980s.
