With over 100 locations across the province, Unplugged is the first small appliance recycling program of its kind in Canada.
The program will accept everything from toasters to vacuum cleaners. After an appliance is dropped off, processors will separate it into different materials to be recycled.
CESA estimates Unplugged will divert approximately two million small appliances that would have ended up in landfills.
Because Unplugged is a non-profit organization, it will be fully funded by a recycling fee that is applied to new products brought into the province, either included in the price or added at check-out.
In Fort St. John, small appliances can be dropped off at the Eco-Depot Recycling Centre at 10115 – 94 Avenue from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
