The deceased and his female passenger (also 74 years of age) were traveling in a van east on Highway 43 which collided with a westbound van operated by a 22 year old man (also of Dawson Creek), who was the sole occupant of the eastbound vehicle. He was not injured as a result of the collision.
Police remain on scene as they continue their investigation into the cause of the collision and advise traffic is down to a single lane on Highway 43 between Range Roads 125 and 130. Motorists are asked to slow down and drive with caution in the area.
The heavy fog in the area this morning is being considered as a contributing factor while alcohol has been ruled out.
