Fort St. John resident dies in collision on Highway 97

A Fort St. John resident has died in a two vehicle collision on Highway 97 North near the Kiskatinaw Bridge.

The 23 year old driver was taken to the Dawson Creek Hospital with serious injuries which he later succumbed to. His name has not been released by police as his next of kin has not yet been notified.

RCMP were called to the scene of the crash at 5:40 this morning. Both a car and a truck were involved. The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.

Traffic is currently being rerouted until the investigation is completed. Heavy truck traffic is being sent to Braeden Road while other traffic is being routed through the Old Kiskatinaw Highway/River Bridge Loop.

It is unknown when the road will be reopened.
