Last night around 40 men and women walked the streets of downtown, chanting and writing in chalk during the Take Back the Night March. Shouting "Claim our bodies! Claim our right! Take a stand, take back the night!", the group was escorted by RCMP on a loop through the downtown area.

Put on by the Women's Resource Society, Take Back the Night is an international event aiming to end violence against women. The march began at the North Peace Cultural Centre at 8:00, where participants were given candles and sheets of chants.

Men were encouraged to attend, and made up over a third of the group, often leading the chants. There were also a number of four-legged friends out to support the cause.
