Fort St. John to wave bye-bye to Blockbuster

Local movie lovers will have to find another way to watch movies from the comfort of their home.

The Fort St. John Blockbuster will be shutting down permanently, along with the rest of the stores nation wide. The closure means that the city will no longer have any stores that can provide movie and video game rentals.

The local store currently has 13 full and part-time employees.

According to Blockbuster Canada’s head office, their final day of operations will be Saturday, Dec 31.

An employee at the Fort St. John location says Blockbuster will be releasing more information on Tuesday, Sept 6. The store will be having a sale Friday, Sept. 9 to clear out all of the merchandise in the store.
