High speed chase Wednesday night in Fort St. John

A high speed chase ended only a few minutes after it began Wednesday night.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, the Fort St. John RCMP started chasing a vehicle in the Mathews Park area reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h. Only minutes after the chase started, the RCMP called it off out of concern for public safety. The RCMP then spotted the suspect vehicle after it had been abandoned a few blocks south of Central School. The suspect fled on foot and the RCMP started to search the area.

As of 12 a.m. Thursday, the RCMP were still searching for the suspect.

At this time the RCMP haven’t released an official statement about the chase or the suspect. It’s unclear what started the chase and a exactly who the RCMP are searching for.

We hope to have more information Thursday morning. If you have any information about the chase, email contact@energeticcity.ca
