After completing three tryout sessions, the team will have its first taste of NWJHL game speed when the Huskies host the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks Saturday, Sept 17.
Despite the fact that the game is an exhibition, it’s an important event for the Huskies coaching staff. Coaches will now have the opportunity to evaluate the players based on their in-game performance, something that can be overlooked when selecting players based on their tryouts.
It will be the players' final opportunity to impress the coaching staff, as final roster cuts have yet to be made.
It’s only fitting that the club will open their pre-season against rival Dawson Creek Junior Canucks.
The exhibition match also marks the official return of Gary Alexander as the team's bench boss, as he will get the opportunity to evaluate not only his players, but fellow coaches for the first time since his last stint as head coach.
The game will be taking place at Fort St. John’s North Peace Arena. Puck drops at 8 p.m.
