Jail 'N' Bail raises almost $34,000

This year's Cops For Cancer Jail 'N' Bail in Fort St. John raised just under $34,000 for cancer research.

That, in addition to other fundraising, brings this year's total amount raised so far to around $42,000, matching last year's amount.

The Jail 'N' Bail occured Tuesday, Sept 6, with RCMP officers placing residents into a mock jail in the Totem Mall until they could fundraise enough to make bail.

The money is going towards the Cops For Cancer Tour de North, which kicks off in Fort St. John Friday.

The event begins with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at Canadian Tire.

Four local RCMP officers are taking part: Constables Shawn Ingham, Josh Smith and Josh Martyn as well as Inspector Pat Egan.

The tour ends in Williams Lake on Sept 15.
