Last day to voice opinion on MMA in Fort St. John

MMA is a full combat sport that combines many different martial arts, including muay thai, kickboxing, jui-jitsu, boxing and wrestling. Fighters both strike and grapple standing up and on the ground, in an octagon shaped cage.

There is already a full MMA training gym in Fort St. John, but currently the city is not sanctioned to hold events.

The City is looking for feedback on whether you would or would not support the creation of the Athletic Commission to bring professional fighting events to Fort St. John. It is also looking for volunteers to sit on the Commission if it is created. Provincial guidelines state there must be at least three people on the council.

Dawson Creek used an Athletic Commission from Prince George to bring MMA events into the city earlier this year.
