The Fort St. John RCMP were called to the scene of the accident shortly after 12 a.m. Friday at kilometer 29 of Upper Halfway Road.

A Ford F150 Crew Cab pick-up truck with two occupants was traveling north when it hit the side of the pavement. The driver then over corrected, causing the vehicle to travel across the road into the opposite side ditch and rolled over on its roof.

One female was found deceased when police arrived on scene. The second person in the vehicle, a male, was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The names of the victims are not being released until notification of next kin has been completed.

The RCMP believe alcohol, speed and the lack of seat belt use are all factors in this accident. The investigation is on going and charges are pending.
