The Rage were in penalty trouble early in the first period, but forward Keenan Bailey was able to take advantage of a shorthanded opportunity and put the first goal past Minotauros’ goaltender Jake Hebda, who had stood on his head to that point to keep the Rage off the board. The goal would give the Rage momentum as shortly after Carter Page would make it 2-0.

The second period was a back-and-forth affair, as Minot would get on the board early in the period, but rookie forward Stephen Zipp responded with his first-ever NAHL goal to push the lead back up to two goals. Minot would make it close heading into the third period by scoring late in the second to make it 3-2.

The third period saw tight, physical play as the Rage looked to put their opponents away and the Minotauros looked to tie the game up. Minot’s frustration was evident as tempers would flare late in the period and some fights ensued. The Minotauros attempted to make one last push by pulling their goaltender for the man-advantage, but Jason Wark would seal the win for the Rage by scoring into the empty net.

The Rage’s penalty kill was flawless during the game as the team killed off all nine of Minot’s power play opportunities.

The team renews their rivalry with the Minotauros on Sunday starting at 3 p.m. at the EnCana Events Centre.
