Pledge forms can be picked up at City Hall, at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre, or at Scotiabank, and donations can be raised individually or online through the website atwww.terryfox.org.
"This is one of the best fundraisers we have found in terms of community support," said Erin Oliver, recreation programmer for the City of Dawson Creek, who is helping to organize the event. "There are so many local businesses that donate refreshments or prizes."
She added they had about 150 participants in last years run, but fundraising has waned in recent years and she is hoping that will pick up again.
The Terry Fox Foundation states 87 cents of dollar raised goes towards cancer research, with only three per cent going towards administration and 10 per cent going towards fundraising costs. Oliver noted the foundation funds research for all kinds of cancers, not just one.
