Tumbler Ridge walks away with $10,000

The community submitted 1,155 entries over the six-week challenge, including stories, pictures, videos and maps of where and how residents get out to walk in and around the town. Entrants were eligible for weekly prizes like pedometers, fitness passes, family fun packs, and even one of six trips to resort destinations across the province.

As one of the five winning communities, Tumbler Ridge is now eligible for the grand prize of an extra $50,000. The grand-prize-winning community will be selected by a random draw and will be announced shortly.

The public is encouraged to visit www.healthyfamiliesbc.ca for more tips on how to make physical activity part of a daily routine, as well as http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/index.html to find trials and other outdoor activities in your area.
