Art lovers encouraged to bid on local pieces in support of art gallery

The “Art a la Carte” silent auction fundraiser features over 20 pieces from local artists that will be up to view and bid on at Café Europa at 926 102 Avenue in October.

“It’s a real mix – they are of a small format, about 12 by 12 (inches) or smaller – and we left it open to the artist’s interpretation of what they wanted to do. There is some realism, there is some abstract, there’s oil paintings, acrylic, mixed-media, printmaking and all kinds of things,” said Melissa Holoboff, curator and community relations coordinator for the art gallery.

To bid, you must simply locate the blue binder inside the store and write down your bid and contact information on the page corresponding to the artwork you wish to bid on. The bidding closes on the evening of Oct. 28, when a wrap-up party will be held where individuals can make their final bids and enjoy some tasty treats. After bidding closes at 8 p.m., the successful bidders can pay and take their paintings home that night.

Proceeds from the auction will go to the art gallery to fund children’s arts programs.

For more information, contact Melissa Holoboff at 250-782-2601 during regular gallery hours or visit www.dcartgallery.ca.
