Bantam Flyers place second in weekend hockey tournament

Over the weekend, the Bantam Flyers were in Quesnel for a three-day hockey tournament, finishing the weekend with a 4-1 record, earning the team a second place finish in the tournament, losing to Terrace in the tournament finals.

Friday evening, the Flyers kick started the tournament with an 8-5 victory over Terrace. Multiple Flyers found themselves on the score sheet in the victory, with Nolan Logan leading with a hat trick. Also a solid performance by George Seguin-Morin earned him MVP of the Game honours. Seth Hanna earned the win in between the pipes for the Flyers.

After a nights rest, the Bantam Flyers were back at it again for a puck filled Saturday. The Bantam boys started their Saturday with a tightly contested game against Williams Lake, a game the Flyers narrowly won by a score of 4-3. Adam Krueger displayed a strong defensive game, chipping in with two assists to earn himself MVP of the Game honours. Lane Delf also made some timely saves in net to earn the victory.

The Flyers didn’t have much of a break, hitting the ice later in the afternoon to rumble with Smithers. After two periods, the teams found themself tied at two, but back to back Flyer goals secured Fort St. John the 6-4 win. Jarod Lang led the way offensively for the Flyers, earning three assists and Seth Hanna earned another victory in net.

Sunday morning, Fort St. John was locked in a close tilt with Dawson Creek. With only 120 seconds left in the game, Alex Hartman caught fire, scoring twice for the Flyers, earning the team the win and himself the title of MVP of the Game. Lane Delf also got his second win of the tournament.

With four wins in a row, the Flyers found themselves face-to-face with Terrace for the tournament championship. Unfortunately, the results were not the same as the Flyers tournament opening game; in fact, they were the exact opposite. Terrance defeated the Flyers by a score of 8-5 in the championship game for the tournament win.

After a fun and successful weekend for the Bantam Flyers, the boys are off to Williams Lake this weekend for another run at a weekend tournament championship.
