Boundary Expansion open house postponed

At its August 22, 2011 meeting, council voted to hold an open house and Committee of the Whole meeting in October.

This postponement decision was recommended by City staff as they are waiting for clarification on an issue from the Ministry of Community, Sport, and Cultural Development. The City says that the Ministry's boundary extension guidelines are vague, and it has requested clarification on certain sections. It has yet to receive a response to the formal request sent in August.

In its recommendation, staff add, "until staff knows exactly what these regulations are, it is difficult to provide council with options that will ultimately decide whether or not Council wishes to proceed with this application."

Staff also added that administration is very busy coordinating the upcoming municipal election, as well as budget deliberations.
