On Friday, Sept. 30, the Ride for the Disabled held a fundraiser at the Fort St. John senior’s home, in order to help alleviate some of the organization’s yearly operating costs.
The event included a home cooked and catered meal, a variety of live musical performances, dancing and silent auctions.
Winter Ward, treasurer for the Fort St. John Ride for the Disabled, spoke very highly of the weekend event, saying it was "very successful."
She said the food was excellent, the entertainment was extremely talented and the organization raised well over their estimated amount.
Ward said that with ticket sales, they were estimating on making roughly $3,000. After the night had concluded, she said the organization walked away with approximately $4,500.
The Ride for the Disabled is a local non-profit organization that provides handicapped children the opportunity to ride horses, something they normally would not be able to accomplish.
