New app released for Northern B.C. tourists

Launching this week is the "Northern B.C." app, a smart phone application developed to help promote all tourism business within Northern British Columbia.

Developed by the Northern B.C. Tourism Association, the new app is in partnership with the tourism departments of Dawson Creek, Prince George, Smithers, Kermodei and Prince Rupert. All five locations helped with the funding and input for the app, which is now available for download.

The new tourism app is designed to help users find the basics of what to do, where to eat and where to stay. The new program also uses smartphones’ built in GPS to let users know what is nearby and even how to get there.

Clint Fraser, project manager, says "the Northern B.C. app provides instant access to travel information, assists in decision-making, and ultimately enhances visitors’ experience while traveling in our region."

The app was initially previewed at an AGM and Conference by the NBCTA in Prince George on Oct. 3.

Anthony Everett, CEO of Northern B.C. Tourism, argues "this app is one example of how Northern B.C. Tourism is staying at the forefront of tourism marketing, and providing valuable tools for visitors in our region."

The new app is currently available for free download on iTunes and the Android Market.
