Poppy campaign kicks off in Fort St. John

Poppies will also be available by donation at many restaurants and businesses around town, including, of course, the Legion. The pin is meant to be worn on your left lapel, over your heart.

At last night's City Council meeting, council proclaimed October 28 to November 11, 2011 as the official poppy campaign in Fort St. John. As Legion Public Relations Chair Dan Davies pointed out, 100 per cent of the funds raised by the poppy fund will stay in the area, supporting veterans and youth activities. He says last year the Legion raised approximately $14,000 in its poppy campaign.

Remembrance Day service will begin at 10:15 a.m. on November 11, 2011 at the Legion. Public transit will be free all day.
