Romantic evening good for the planet

On Thursday, Oct. 27, more than 120 restaurants will turn off their lights and invite customers to dine only by candlelight, in order to raise awareness of energy efficiency and conservation.

The program is in conjunction of B.C. Hydro’s Power Smart month.

As well as a romantic setting, restaurants will also make the deal a little more enticing, by offering special discounts to diners, such as two-for-one entrées, or complimentary appetizers or desserts.

Lisa Coltart, Executive Director of Power Smart and Customer Care for B.C. Hydro, says "our Candlelight Conservation Dinner, now in its third year, has been a huge success and is part of B.C. Hydro’s Power Smart Month Campaign. The tasty event is designed to show how simple behaviours, like turning off the lights, can save energy."

Fort St. John has partnered with B.C. Hydro to help promote the event. In the energetic city, Roustabout's Restaurant & Bar and Mr. Mikes Steak & Bar will be featuring a candlelight dinner.
