Social media leads to arrest

A member of the public launched a social media thread in an attempt to locate Munch. As a result, Prince George RCMP received dozens of tips by phone, email and facebook.

Munch was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on October 1, in West Kelowna despite giving police a false name and attempting to flee. He now faces charges of aggravated assault and theft under $5000 for the assault that left a 24 year-old woman with injuries to her face. The victim was taken to hospital and is now recovering.

Munch is scheduled to appear in court in Prince George on October 19, 2011.

The Prince George RCMP would like to thank the members of the public that provided information.
