Sudeten Hall will host a spaghetti dinner and auction starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and are available at the door, and proceeds from the ticket sales and from the auction will benefit Jill Claus and her three young children.
Leon Claus said his daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2010, and actually just recently returned from Edmonton after completing a series of chemotherapy and radiation therapy that she has undergone over the last year. He said one of her breasts was removed, and fortunately, the cancer did not spread to her lymph nodes.
He said Jill was living in Camrose, Alta., at the time of her diagnosis, and following the diagnosis, her relationship with her common law husband ended, leaving her alone to care for her three children who are between the ages of four and eight. She and her children now live with her father in Dawson Creek, and Leon said she needs some help to purchase some Christmas gifts for the children, and to help her get back on her feet.
“She basically has to start from scratch after fighting the cancer and all of that, and so now she has to buy clothes and everything else to get her going again,” he said.
He said there are many great items generously donated by local businesses that will be up for bid in the auction tonight, including some sauna and massage packages he donated from his own business, the Bodo Store in the Dawson Mall.
