Male approaches youth with weapon in Camarlo Park

At approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 29, the RCMP were called to Camarlo Park (also know as Toboggan Hill or Rotary Park – located at 93 ave. and 93 st.) after a youth was approached by an unknown male brandishing a weapon.  The youth ran away from the suspect and began yelling in order to draw the attention of other people in the area.  The youth, who was unharmed, was able to return home and notify a parent, who then contacted the RCMP.

The male is described as approximately 5'6, medium build, Cacausian, possibly in his mid to late teens.  The male was wearing a hooded sweater and a back pack at the time of the incident Tuesday morning.

The RCMP say this is the second such incident in the last three weeks in the same area allegedly involving an unknown male approaching youth in the park.  The first incident occurred on Nov. 9, 2011 and at this point, the RCMP can’t say for sure if the two incidents are connected, but their investigation continues.

At this time, the RCMP are recommending that people travel in pairs or groups through the park and that they make themselves aware of their surroundings at all times.
