Hearings will take place between January and March 2012, with the closest to the North Peace being held in Grande Prairie, Alberta, as well as one in Prince George, B.C. The hearings in Grande Prairie will take place on March 26 at 6:00 p.m., and March 27 and 28 at 9:00 a.m., all at the Quality Hotel and Conference Centre. The hearing in Prince George will take place on January 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Ramada Hotel Downtown.
Although the deadline to register to speak at the community hearings has passed, it's possible to make a late request. Residents can also have their voice heard by writing a letter of comment. The deadline to do so is March 13, 2012 and registration is done online at gatewaypanel.review-examen.gc.ca.
Canadian Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver recently said that he wants to see the proposed Northern Gateway Project's approval process expedited. Oliver said he now wants Northern Gateway's hearings to be done by January 2013, a year ahead of schedule.
The current schedule for input, has the joint review panel releasing the Environmental Assessment Report during Fall 2013, and the final decision about the fate of the project made around the end of 2013.
