Senior athletes from Zone 12 won 14 medals in total, eight of those coming from the sport of golf.

Taylor resident Ken Anderson took home a net score gold medal in men’s 20 handicap, in the 60-64 age division in golf, while his brother Chuck also earned himself a gold medal in Golf’s 20 handicap, in the 55-59 age bracket.

It was also a success for Tumbler Ridge golfers, George Lang, Lloyd Hanberg and Stephen Baverstock, who also each took gold medals in golf in their respective division.

Fort St. John’s Annette Reeder also returned home with gold around her neck, winning the top medal in golf’s 24.3 handicap division, in the 70-74 age bracket.

Next door, Taylor’s Freda Murphy, who this year was honoured for her 25 consecutive year of competition at the games, also returned with a gold medal in golf’s 24.3 handicap, 80 plus age bracket.

Tumbler Ridge’s Bernie Lehmann won bronze in golf’s 55-59 age bracket.

DC’s Robin O’Reilly was the overall medal winner from the Peace Region after a successful games in the pool. She won two gold medals: one in the 100 metre freestyle, the other in the 25 metre butterfly, as well as silver in the 200 metre freestyle, in women’s 65-69 age bracket.

Charlie Lakes' Gordon Snyder won a bronze in horseshoe, while Baldonnel’s Lorne McBeth won silver in archery in the men’s 70+ division.
