With the loss Saturday evening, the Flyers, the league’s newest team, emerged victorious in their first two games in the league and swept the Huskies in the season opening series.
Friday evening, the first game of the home-and-home, took place in Fort St. John, and was a tough 3-1 loss for the Huskies to swallow.
Not only did they lose their first home game of the pre-season, but the team’s leading scorer from last year, Robbie Sidhu, had to leave the game after taking a hard high stick in the face. The play resulted in Sidhu losing a tooth and requiring five stitches to the side of his mouth.
The Huskies will need to regroup following the disappointing weekend and focus on their next week of exhibition hockey. The Pups’ next game will take place Thursday, September 20, when they play host to their rivals from Mile-0 City, the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks.
Two days later, Saturday, September 22, the club will travel to Dawson Creek, for an evening game at the Dawson Creek Memorial Arena.
Thursday’s home game begins at 8 p.m.
