Following its discovery, RCMP was called to the scene and discovered the fire outside of the southwest entrance of the facility.

Police are saying that following the ignition of the fire, the garbage can was purposely positioned under the wooden beam canopy.

Upon arriving and extinguishing the flames, Fort St. John Fire Department noticed only limited damage, including the destruction of the garbage can, and soot staining of the wooden beams and canopy.

Fort St. John RCMP is currently investigation the incident, and is encouraging anyone with any information to contact the local detachment at 250-787-8140.
