Preference for the $1,000 scholarship will be given to Aboriginal students from Northeast B.C., with applicants being asked to explain how the award will benefit their educational goals.

Kim Brennis, Talisman Energy’s Manager of Stakeholder Relations, says giving back to the community is a priority in the company’s eyes.

"Community investment is one of the primary ways Talisman gives back to the people who live in the areas where we operate…The Talisman Visual Arts Entrance Award provides Talisman the opportunity to support both arts and culture and educating youth for the future."

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is September 20 and forms are available from Student Services or the Financial Aid Office at all NLC campuses.
