Beginning Thursday October 6, will be the Fort St. John Flyers training camp/tryout sessions, with a total of nine on-ice sessions being held, wrapping up Monday, October 29.

The tryouts are also free of charge to attend.

After this year’s roster is complete, the team will begin to prepare for its first game, which will be held in early November.

Flyers President Paul Van Nostrand says representatives from various NPHL teams met in Fairview over the weekend, and a schedule should be finalized by next week.

Van Nostrand says he expects the Flyers' first game to take place in early November.

As usual, the Flyers will also indulge in some AAA Senior Hockey action in preparation for the Savage Cup, which Fort St. John will be hosting this year.

The Flyers will travel to Bentley, Alberta, to play two games against their rivals, the Generals, on November 10 and 11.

Following the two road games, the Generals will make their way to Fort St. John to play two games at the North Peace Arena on January 5 and 6.

This year, the Flyers will be the home team in the 2013 Savage Cup, hosting the centurion anniversary of the best-of-five tournament, for the Savage Cup's 100 birthday.

Flyers will welcome the Powell River Regals to town, with games taking place March 21-25.

The hometown Flyers will be looking to exact some revenge in their barn, as last year, the two teams played for the cup in Powell River, where the Flyers suffered a disapointing sweep of three games to none.

The winner of the 100 Savage Cup will represent the Pacific Region at the 2013 Allan Cup, being played this year in Red Deer, Alberta.
