The 69 year old driver and sole occupant of the vehicle had to be extracted by Fire and Rescue, Emergency Health Services and the RCMP. He was taken to the Fort St. John Hospital in serious condition, and later succumbed to his injuries. His name, and the company he worked for, has not been released.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Drive B.C. says the road is expected to be closed until between 5 and 7 p.m. Detours are set up on either side.
