That makes it the 9th monthly sale out of the last ten below $10 million, and it dashes optimism that the December sale of $30.7 million would kick start a more positive trend.
The Wednesday sale was also only 30 per cent of the January sale last year, which at $32.2 million was the biggest one of a dismal 2012.
31 of the 37 parcels offered were purchased covering just over 15,000 hectares, but only one of them – a lease purchased by BASM Land and Resources Limited – resulted in a paid bonus of more than a million dollars.
The next sale is scheduled for February 20th.
