Several non-profit groups had expressed interesting in taking over the building including Stage North, North Peace Search and Rescue and the ABC Thrift Store.  The non-profit groups had hoped the City would either sell or lease the building.

Council decided to retain the property and move another City department into the building as it requires minimal interior renovations.  The building is also strategically located and has emergency generation in place, making it extremely valuable in the case of a significant local emergency.  Staff expect to complete interior renovations this year with any work on the exterior planned for 2014.

The new fire hall should be completed this year.
