The government's stated objective is to further streamline the natural resource application process, and to help make business easier for clients. It also claims the online system will help provide the business certainty necessary to create jobs that support B.C. families.
The move follows a B.C. Jobs Plan commitment to reduce the backlog of Notice of Work, Land Act and Water Act authorizations. Over 55,000 authorizations have been processed since January of 2005, and preliminary estimates for last year's mineral exploration expenditures are $680 million.
