The divisional series will pit the second placed team in the NAMHL’s North Black Division, Grande Prairie (16-14-2), versus the third placed Trackers (14-17-1), who played each other four times throughout the regular season.
During those four meetings, the Trackers emerged victorious three times, 4-3, 6-5 and 4-2, but ended the season series suffering a 4-0 defeat.
Grande Prairie leads in goals for and against, as throughout the regular season, the Sherpa Safety Storm scored 157 goals, the highest in their division, while allowing 132 against. The Trackers scored 104 goals during the regular season, while allowing 121.
This will be the first taste of playoff hockey for Grande Prairie, who earned a first round bye due to their second place regular season finish.
Game one takes place in Grande Prairie Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m., with the series shifting to Dawson Creek the next day at 7:15 p.m. If necessary, the series will wrap up with game three on Sunday in Grande Prairie at 4 p.m.
The Trackers are coming off a best-of-three series sweep over the Fort McMurray Barons.
