"I am proud to see Dawson Creek benefit from our Government’s support for local infrastructure," says Zimmer. "Our support for upgrades to the Dawson Creek Regional Airport will help create jobs and growth, and support the prosperity of the community for years to come."
Among the newly funded renovations is the construction of a second gate with a washroom, as well as an accessible washroom added to the existing gate. Construction began late last year, which was initially going to be fully funded by the City.
Dawson Creek Mayor Mike Bernier argues the addition of a second gate is much needed with the growth of the community.
"The City of Dawson Creek is pleased to be a recipient of a financial contribution under the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund for completion of a second passenger gate to handle the growing numbers of charter traffic using the airport and to install much needed washroom facilities in the secure hold room," he says.
